Eric Cornidez, MD, MBA

Eric Cornidez, MD, MBA, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, Fellowship Trained Interventional Pain Specialist and Board Certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine in the greater Tucson community. Dr. Cornidez is currently a managing partner at the Pain Institute of Southern Arizona, which is conveniently located throughout Tucson, San Tan Valley, Safford, and Benson, Arizona.

Dr. Eric Cornidez is a local Tucsonan whose goal was to obtain the best training possible with a vision of bringing strong medical resources to the community where he grew up. He obtained his medical degree at Stanford University and returned temporarily to Tucson at the University of Arizona for his surgical internship. He then pursued his Anesthesia specialty at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale where he became the first Chief Resident in Anesthesiology and further subspecialized in Interventional Pain Management at Mayo Clinic Arizona. He serves as a consultant, investigator, and instructor on advanced pain management techniques such as neuromodulation.

He became a managing partner and serves as the Chief Medical Officer at the Pain Institute of Southern Arizona (PISA), the largest and most respected Pain Management Center in Southern Arizona. To enrich his administrative impact on the success of PISA, he completed the Executive MBA Program through the Eller College of Business at the University of Arizona. From a clinical perspective, he is one of the most respected pain physicians in the country. From an administrative perspective, he is known to be a compassionate leader who inspires his staff to be their absolute best.

He is proud to be heavily involved in the community as shown through several roles such as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona and an executive board member for both the American Heart Association and Tucson Metro Chamber. He also serves as a Deacon at Catalina Foothills Church and is actively involved in Corazon Ministries. He enjoys serving on professional statewide and national boards, including Pacific Spine and Pain Society and the Arizona Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. Numerous community honors further illustrate his leadership including US Congressman Juan Ciscomani’s Community Advisory Council, Outstanding Community Service Award from the U.S. Department of Justice, 40 Under 40 Achievement Award, and the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 2019 Businessman of the Year.

Most importantly, he is most proud of his loving wife and four beautiful children.
