“Tingling today, trouble tomorrow.”

Cubital tunnel syndrome is a condition that occurs when the ulnar nerve becomes compressed or irritated as it passes through a narrow passageway on the inside of the elbow called the cubital tunnel. The ulnar nerve is responsible for sensation in the ring and little fingers and helps control several muscles in the hand and forearm. When the nerve is under pressure, it can lead to symptoms such as numbness, tingling, or a “pins and needles” sensation that often affects the ring and pinky fingers.

Symptoms may develop gradually and can become more noticeable when the elbow is bent for long periods, such as during sleep, phone use, or driving. Some individuals may also experience weakness in the hand, decreased grip strength, or difficulty with fine motor tasks like buttoning clothing or holding small objects. If nerve compression persists, muscle wasting in the hand can occur, making everyday activities more challenging.
